What kind of audit trail reporting can I do?

New on: 07/24/2002

Up till now in Bugcentral, you could only see the audit trail history of a bug when viewing that individual entry. This is ok, but many times project managers would love to see all the changes that have been made to their project over a particular time frame. This new reporting option allows you to do just that!

Here are some of the questions that can be answered with audit trail reporting:
  • Show me all the entries that have changes in the past week.
  • Show me all the entries that have had their "Status" changed.
  • Show me all the entries that have been changed by John Smith.
This allows for a much more control and oversight into the workings of your project!
To use this new reporting feature, simply choose "Audit Trail Reporting" off the "Reports" main menu. You need to have "admin" rights to view this new feature.

Here are the fields that can be reported on and their meaning:

Field Name Description
ID # This is the tracking # for the entry.
Field This is the field that was changed in the entry. The list of available fields are presented in a multi-select listbox. You can select one or multiple fields to report on. To select more then 1 row, hold the "shift" key while clicking.
Old Value This is the value the field had before the change was made.
New Value This is the value after the record has been updated.
Date This is the date the field was changed. You can specify a range of dates here to pull out all changes between those 2 dates.
User This is the user that made the change. This is presented in a multi-select listbox. You can report on all changes made by a person or persons.
